About Shadow Hills

Shadow Hills is one of the few remaining communities in Los Angeles that is primarily equestrian-zoned. Conveniently located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, it is minutes from the Hansen Dam Recreational Area and the Angeles National Forest.

In addition to many fenced, roadside bridle paths there are hundreds of miles of park trails that begin within blocks of our doorstep, regularly maintained by Equestrian Trails Inc. and our local Corral 20, the Shadow Hills Rough Riders.

It is situated north of Burbank, in the southern portion of the community of Sunland, east of Glenoaks Boulevard. (Click here to visit Shadow Hills on Google Maps.)

The population is approximately 3,700.

As part 0f the 2012 California redistricting, Shadow Hills now falls under Los Angeles City Council District 7 and Richard Alarcon, who jumped in with an immediate interest in equestrian affairs, championing initiatives like the addition of blinking lights on streets at horse crossings.
